This past weekend at Early Owego, we had the first Hang Out on Lake Street, where our dealers displayed and sold their wares from the fences bordering the Lake St. construction.
We will continue doing this every weekend (weather permitting) as long as the fences are up, as it adds a sense of community participation and whimsy!
This coming weekend (weather permitting), we will be holding a free chalk art event along the sidewalk in front of our store. Participants of all ages and artistic abilities are encouraged to transform the concrete into works of art!
Join us all day Saturday, 5/27 and Sunday, 5/28 for this fun event!
Chalk will be provided; the only thing you need to bring is your imagination and creativity!
The construction has begun on Lake St. to replace the century old pipes and water lines.
And while the village has several other parking options, there is also a fun campaign going on called Walk Owego.
Walk Owego is a campaign to encourage both healthy living and to let patrons know just how close it is to walk to each business in and around the village; even though Lake St. is closed, the businesses and sidewalks are not!
Walk around the village to see all it has to offer, such as the River Walk; a beautifully landscaped view of the Susquehanna river, located between two small parks and free to the public.

It’s almost the first Friday of the month and you know what that means? Owego’s Art Walk from 5-8 on Friday, May 5th!
We at Early Owego will featured our own Jim Mead, with his Spanish Barrel Piano and Ithaca Gem Roller Organ; both totally restored and sounding incredible! We will be open until 8 pm.
Check here for a list of events throughout the evening, including live entertainment, food, demonstrations, and of course, art!
May Day….the title conjures up images of the May pole and brightly colored ribbons, the beginning of warmer weather, and the blossoming of Spring flowers.
But did you know the real history behind May Day, aka International Workers’ Day? It started with worker solidarity and protest, and ended with a nationwide strike for the 8-hr. work day.
And while the May pole ribbon ceremony is still celebrated throughout the world, it’s a stark comparison to it’s true history.
And with it comes all Owego has to offer!
We recently had the 1st Friday Art Walk of the season with much success! The Art Walk is a staple in Owego, which highlights music, art, and food within the town. Next Art Walk will be Friday, May 5th from 5-8 pm.
Another event in Owego is Farm to Fork, which takes place every Thursday evening from mid-June to September. It features fresh produce and other products from local farmers, along with local chefs cooking up dishes using those fresh ingredients for visitors to enjoy! Music and entertainment are also featured throughout the evening.
And who can forget the 37th annual Strawberry Festival, which takes place this year June 17-18!
So plan your summer days to come visit Owego, NY; it’s the small town, with big events!
The 35th Million Dollar Antique Show, put on by the Binghamton Sertoma Club, is taking place this weekend, April 21-23 2017 at the SUNY Broome Ice Center.
As always, hundreds of dealers will be participating, along with free workshops on Saturday, 4/22 with a paid admission!
Whether you’re a dealer, a collector, or just looking for something to do, make sure to check out this yearly event!
Happy Music Monday!
This Monday’s artist is Postmodern Jukebox. If you’ve never heard of or seen them, you’ll become an instant fan; if you have, then enjoy one of their most popular renditions of All About that Bass.
Myself and the owner of Early Owego Antique Center saw them in concert a couple years back in Ithaca, NY and let me tell you, they were amazing; if they’re in town near you, we highly suggest checking them out!
It’s not only Friday, but it’s GOOD FRIDAY and we’re open regular hours 10-8.
Stop in for last minute Easter related items; we have lots to offer!
